Also, I'm enjoying the gameplay. The story is just so cringe and there isn't much else to do. There's no way to replay the Prelude again like last year? I deleted the save files and it's still blocked. Ya and live demo did provide a good time with 5v5 that you can enjoy for quite some time and now with the trial. Wasn't enjoyable watching everyone not be able to get 2k to connect for an offline mode for almost an hour.
Defense feels great so far. The pull up jumper is much smoother. Yeah, I agree. This is going to be a quick demo play for me too. However, there's nothing that I can complain about. Gameplay wise, 2K18 is going to be solid as hell as long as they don't ruin it with patches due to the crybabies on Twitter. The lengths some of these fan boys would go to defend 2k is astonishing.
On the plus side 5v5 feels great. I still feel like LeBron is a tad too passive, they pretty much ran the offense through IT. Speaking of Bron, the post moves in this game are gorgeous. He hit me with this one hand, fake pass, scoop up-and-under, and it was beautiful. Dribbling feels a lot better, smoother, less spammy and cartoonish. Defense in the half court is a lot better. Transition D isn't hilariously bad, it's kind of realistically bad. Players lose track of their matchups all the time IRL and it happened a few times here, just like the Finals.
The new contact animations, make running plays feel so much more real. I caught a glimpse of the play branching system in career and it will make you work on D.
I tried to jump a pass to Jimmy Butler for what would've been my second steal if this was 2K17, he stopped on a dime, cut to the hoop and finished with a nasty dunk. Man, I played one more game of 2KU, and the smoothness is incredible. After playing 2K17, the movement and control is a complete night and day. I went back to 2K16, and I think 2K18 feels way better than that game. They did a good job of removing the bumper car feeling that you had with 2K Basic rule of thumb for life guys If it's free don't complain Now when the paid version drops, complain away idc But complaining about stuff like your name being DJ and only having certain modes is dead Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports.
I feel like I'm the outlier here. But I like it. The story is nowhere near as bad as people are making out. Pretty minimal which is what you want.
Do well, get a tryout, maybe make the team. I don't care if it's not Spielberg. We had Spike Lee and he flopped. Think people forget that the purpose of the demo is the gameplay and it's pretty damn solid. Shooting seems decent enough, contesting shots actually seems to make a difference too. It's good. Hopefully when the full thing drops Friday y'all can calm down. FYI, a friend of mine told me that they kept their in the cut scenes so perhaps that happening earlier was one of those weird things because the server was down beforehand and it caused some type of error.
Im not happy they removed the ability to have your passing icons open when your in the post or protect ball, i always use go into post or protect ball, and when i clicked icon passing i would stay in post or protect ball with my icons open, now it just faces you up when you click the icon pass button. Dammit this game is super unrealistic.
My character told Ronnie2k that he appreciates him. Edit: Holy crap just got to the next scene. What is this orange is the new black looking girl doing in my game. Who saw the Levins Jr. OH my this prelude have me scared of the day one patch:y6: As is right now this game is amazing:headbang2 plz dont let the day one patch changes things up basketball gods :y Can anyone tell me if we can see which of the secondary badges can be upgraded to Gold?
The lengths some of these Live fan boys would go to bash 2K in the 2K forum is astonishing. It's almost as if they don't have their own to go comment in. Btw, if being 'okay' with a weak demo a week before launch makes me a fanboy, then you have seriously low standards for your definition of fanboyism. Sorry I'm not spending my night being outraged and complaining. Playing 2ku now The velocity on the pass is nice, the ball can be whipped around the horn Ala San Antonio Spurs style.
In 2KU, if you put in on Advanced, you get fewer interruptions. For all the Broadcast View heads, Broadcast Low is nice! The logic of some posts I've seen I'm not saying 2K is terrible or anything even close, but the prelude was lacking substance IMO, it was just the beginning of the storytelling, so who knows if it gets better. I play a lot of F2P games and never understand when people defend crappy things just because they're free.
If there are guys unhappy with the prelude, that's their opinion, its not a fair to say there is no complaining if something is free. Just finished playing it on the XboxOne. But this is great thing. Players don't look at the rim on dunks or shots, they just look straight ahead. It looks really weird. Well as far as the My Career part, meh.
At least your my player gets a pair of Jordan 32's when the game comes out. Now 2KU The gameplay is much smoother especially on defense. Last year you would have to turbo just to keep up with you man but now player movement is great on defense. That mycareer start is absolutely atrocious.
Luckily, from what I saw in 2KU, the real game is amazing. Game play is fcking beautiful. I can't wait for the real game. Damn man it's gonna be a long 1 week. Just gonna keep messing around 2ku now. Prelude was terrible overall imo. I honestly felt like I wasted my time lol. The story is very corny. Might be the corniest of them all so far. The mode seemed very barebones compared to last years and definitely compared to NBA Lives demo.
All you could change was your jump shot and even that was limited. Still cannot even see what's the actual ratings before you make a player. So I guess I'll just wait until the game comes out to actually see what I am making. The gameplay seems a lot more polished but couldn't really get a feel because it didn't allow me to change control settings or anything but from the one scrimmage I did play, the gameplay should be very nice this year.
Guess I'll play a few more of those. Is there no way to play as the Cavs in 2KU? I tried plugging in a second controller but it still wouldn't let player 2 control the Cavs. Honestly, 2KU was the best part of this demo. The MyPlayer portion was pretty bad lol. Pretty lame that you can't edit your accessories or attributes. And that CAP system is just terrible.
As far as 2KU goes, I really enjoyed it. Of course since it's offline and it's a low difficulty you can't take too much away from it but I love what they've done to the movement system. Anyway I went ahead and preordered the game, so I can't wait for next Friday. I'm not a fan of the myplayer body model. I would've taken last year's with updated textures and hairstyles over this travesty tbh.
Unless 2k is gonna release editable draft classes with premade faces there's honestly no point in even attempting to create them this year. Trent Booty. I think the strength attribute this year will be big. My low strength guy was getting pushed around. Also, kyrie's release is wet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Just finished prelude and I'm impressed.
Smoothness was a great word for gameplay Also I saw no warps at all. Like not a one. I picked a 6' 11 post scorer balhandler and my dribbling was pretty darn fast. I was surprised that was the base at a I can't imagine how crazy it'll be fully maxed.
Blocks and steals seemed harder so if you want them pick a defensive archetype. Brick walls gone, no warps, fun post game was a plus too. The learning curve on the post game will be large I can tell. A lot of guys are going to get scared about jumpers and pick post players and a lot of guys will be worthless because they don't have the patience to find a GOOD post shot. Ummmm have to gives props to defense again. Poor drives are punished with animations that make you stumble so if you constantly try trash drives your going to bog your offense down a lot Also one thing I haven't seen mentioned here at all I don't think is the court actually seemed correctly sized.
Back to the basket scorers will love that for passing. Another huge thing for post scorers that will most likely apply in the park. Bigs VS guards will be good night this year. Last year you had to drop step them or get a dunk animation to abuse guards vs bigs. But in real life when you have a short guy on you you just go straight up.
I'm glad 2k made mismatches like that. If you run park and you run a 6' 2" PG at center you should pay for it. Now I have to imagine it works the other way around too but in 2k17 guards could always abuse bigs by running sideways so it's good to see 2k evened the playing field P. I didn't press reach much but the few times I did get a reach in foul it seemed like it took a while teammate grade bar from me.
When I got shooting fouls it seemed like the hit was less than reach fouls. Also I think having HOF post badges is going to be very important because of the correctly sized court and reach spam being killed, bigs are going to have a lot of space and time to work the post. After playing this I have to revisit my stance on making a pure post scorer. I didn't anticipate the court would be right sized I love that Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports.
